Susan Edwards, MSc, RSLP

Susan is the founding director of the Victoria Voice and Swallow Clinic. She now consults for the practice as a speech-language pathologist, working with adults and adolescents who have voice and upper airway challenges such as  Inducible Laryngeal Obstruction (ILO and EILO).

Occupational voice users, singers or active people with aging voices may be concerned about vocal nodules, polyps, cysts, muscle tension dysphonia, spasmodic dysphonia, vocal tremor or increased effort and fatigue. Gender affirming voice therapy prioritizes client goals and vocal health.

Individuals experiencing chronic cough or sudden breathing problems that make it difficult to inhale, at rest or during exercise can regain a sense of internal control.

Susan provides flexible and rigid endoscopy with stroboscopy which allows for a clear view of vocal fold tissues, closure and vibration as part of a comprehensive voice assessment or biofeedback during treatment.

Pre and post-surgical consults are available, and Susan is a registered, insured service provider for ICBC (Insurance Corporation of British Columbia), Worksafe BC, and BCTF (BC Teachers Federation).

Susan works with clients and their networks of support to achieve optimal cognitive  communication skills for life participation and their desired quality of life.

Susan is a Clinical Instructor with UBC and a licensed member of the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC. She is  Certified through Speech-Language & Audiology Canada and is a member in good standing of Speech & Hearing BC. Susan sits on the board of the Victoria Stroke Recovery Association, and is a past board member of Speech and Hearing BC.
